Betty Nakintu is a woman of boundless energy, and when she set out to open her own school in Kampala, Uganda, she was determined to succeed. Starting with just two pupils, word of her high quality school quickly spread and within a year she knew she needed to buy a bigger plot of land to expand her school.
With an $800 loan from FINCA, Betty was able to begin constructing a larger school to teach more children. With the help of subsequent FINCA loans, her school is now a thriving educational complex that includes housing for 100 boarders, giving children from remote villages access to high quality education. Not one to rest on her laurels, Betty is currently scouting property for a second school in a neighboring community.
